350 EXC-F: THE DAWNING OF A NEW ERA KTM is applying the recipe for success from the 2010 MX World Championship to the Enduro WC. The new 350 EXC-F combines the ultra-easy handling of a 250 with the powerful performance of a 450. The result is maximum chances of victory for professionals and maximum fun factor for amateurs. The extremely wide rev range and powerful performance of the DOHC high-tech four-stroke and the efficient rideability of the new 350 EXC-F set the tone for previously unattainable enduro characteristics.     2012 KTM 350 EXC-F Features and Benefits HANDLING OF A 250       FRAME The new 350 EXC-F's lightweight frame made from high-quality chrome-molybdenum steel is distinguished by an extremely high level of lateral stiffness. It is also excellent at absorbing jolts introduced by the suspension system, whereby the playful handling and comfort of the 350 EXC-F have been further optimised. This elaborate valve train, the ultra-light pistons and the new 350 EXC-F's extremely short-stroke engine facilitate speeds of up to 13,000 1/min.     BALANCER SHAFT The balancer shaft not only eliminates vibration, but also acts as an intermediate shaft for the valve train and as the drive for the water pump. This intelligent multi-functionality makes a key contribution to the compactness and low weight of the new 350 EXC-F's engine.     CRANKSHAFT When designing the crankshaft on the new 350 EXC-F, KTM engineers focussed on a reduction in the reciprocating weight and fine adjustment of the rotating masses. In this way, they managed to combine minimum vibration with an outstanding free-revving nature and optimum traction.     LUBRICATION SYSTEM The new 350 EXC-F's engine is equipped with two oil pumps. A pressure pump lubricates the engine and clutch and cools the ignition, while a suction pump draws oil from the crankcase, using it to lubricate the transmission. This intelligent multi-functionality contributes to the compactness and low weight of the 450 EXC's new engine.     NEW ENGINE CASE The 450 EXC's new engine case weighs almost 2 kg (4 lb.) less than its predecessor, although it offers better resistance to damage due to stone impact or falls. This has been achieved by using a high-strength, elastic aluminium alloy and changing from sand-casting to die-casting.     NEW CRANKSHAFT When designing the new crankshaft on the 450 EXC, KTM engineers focussed on reducing the reciprocating weight. The new, 15 % lighter forged piston minimises reciprocating weight and optimises durability at high engine speeds. New, nitrided piston rings ensure highest levels of resistance to wear.     NEW CYLINDER HEAD All ports and the combustion chamber have been redesigned in the OHC cylinder head of the 450 EXC's new engine. The new camshaft actuates four valves via lightweight rocker arms. High-quality titanium valves are used on the intake side. Engine:

- Zuma’s new fuel-injected 125cc single cylinder 4-stroke engine pumps out lots of power for its size, using an SOHC 4-valve head with 10:1 compression ratio and ceramic-composite cylinder plating.

- For reliability and easy maintenance, simple wet-sump lubrication is used. The centrifugal oil filter built into the crankshaft means there’s no messy oil filter to replace.

- Forced air cooling system helps keep engine temperatures under control, even while idling at stoplights, for maximum efficiency and longer engine life.

- Fully automatic, V-belt transmission with centrifugal clutch provides easy, twist-the-throttle-and-go operation with great off-the-line acceleration.

- Fuel injection provides the optimal fuel mixture for the operating condition, including temperature and altitude, and that means easy cold starts, too. Super-convenient electric starting is standard.

- Oiled-paper type air filter helps trap dirt before it gets to your engine, even when riding on unpaved roads. The V-belt housing has its own off-road-style wet-foam air filter for durability.

- Upswept muffler incorporates exhaust catalyst technology to reduce air pollution and meet emission regulations.

Chassis/Suspension:

- Hefty steel-tube frame has a step-through design for easy mounting. A two-stage electrodeposition and electrostatic painting process provides a durable, corrosion-resistant finish.

- Telescopic fork features beefy outer tubes for strength, while slider shrouds help protect the 27mm inner tubes from debris.

- Swingarm has double rear shocks for riding comfort on the street and unpaved roads, too.

- Fuel tank holds 1.6 gallons for plenty of cruising range. Fuel tank emission system includes a charcoal canister to control gasoline evaporation and reduce air pollution.

- Fat 120/70-12 front and 130/70-12 rear tires have an aggressive looking block pattern for great handling on unpaved roads and on the street. Tires run on lightweight five-spoke die-cast aluminum wheels.

- 220mm hydraulic front disc and rear drum brakes combine for serious stopping power.

- Zuma provides both a centerstand and side stand for parking convenience.

- Two bright halogen headlights light the way—following current sportbike practice, the left side provides the 55W low beam while the right side is the 60W high beam.
